How to set up the Job Queue Monitor for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central

Start here! Follow this step by step tutorial to easily configure the Job Queue Monitor for Dynamics 365. Never let entries fail again without warning.

Learn how to add entries to the Job Queue Dashboard for a complete overview of your selected entries, and how to set up notifications with the email listener.

Let's get you started!


First of all, make sure to have an active Object Analyzer account and have it listed under your organization. This means you will have access to the same snapshots as the rest of your team. 

Snapshots are necessary in order to run the Job Queue Monitor. If you want to know how snapshots are created for Object Analyzer, view the get started with snapshots tutorial

This guide has been created for Dynamics 365 users. For on-prem users, please follow this guide instead. 

Get the Job Queue Monitor extension for Dynamics 365

1) Deploy the extension

1.1) Download the Job Queue Monitor extension and save it on your computer

1.2) Open your Microsoft Dynamics 365 and search for “extension management”. The list of your current extensions should now show. At the top select “Manage” > choose “Upload Extension” here

1.3)  Select the Job Queue Monitor .app extension from your computer. Press the slider at “Accept” to proceed, and press “Deploy” at the bottom

1.4) Now you have to check if the extension has been deployed. Enter “Setup & Extensions” in the top menu > “Manage” > Deployment Status. The NAVToolbox Job Queue Monitor extension should be listed here as “completed” and “Immediate”.

2) Configure your snapshots

The Job Monitor Dashboard provides a complete overview of all your tracked entries, and which snapshot the entries are associated with. You can log onto Object Analyzer any time and enter the dashboard to get an overview of entry details and changes that have been implemented.

The first time you log onto Object Analyzer on a new account, zero entries will show on the dashboard. Adding entries is done on each snapshot elsewhere and will be explained next.

Find the Job Monitor Cloud Configuration

2.1) Enter the selected snapshot you want to configure for the Job Monitor by selecting it in the “snapshots” menu and then pressing on the name of your snapshot. 

2.2) Scroll down to the “Job Monitor  Cloud Configuration” tab and open it

2.3) Press thebutton 

Fill in the Cloud Configuration details:

2.4) A new line will appear with six fields to fill in. For this you will need info about the following:

Remember to save your configurations. You can add another line after the first line has been added and saved.

2.5) Wait until the hour is at .01, .21 or .41 and press refresh (this is because our internal bots run every 20 minutes).

3) Managing entries on your snapshot

3.1) Open the tab “Job Queue Entries” on the same snapshot you configured. You can view the type of object, object ID and the associated name and description. Check if all your new entries appeared.

3.2) An email listener means receiving emails directly in your inbox about the specific entry updates. Simply press the green + symbol If you want to add an email listener to a specific entry. You can also remove the email listener again.

3.3) To add the entry to the tracking list on the Job Queue Dashboard, press the small

3.4) After fully configuring your snapshot entries the way you want, enter the “Job Monitor Dashboard” at the top menu in Object Analyzer. You will have to wait for the bot again at .01, .21 or .41 to view your saved changes.

The new entries that you decided to track will all appear in the overview. In case of entries not showing up, be sure to check whether you set up your snapshot cloud configuration correctly.

4) Setting up the Microsoft Teams app

4.1) Download the “Job Queue Monitor” app by NAVToolbox (Tools4ERP)

4.2) Open your Microsoft Teams app and install the app in Teams.

4.3) Enter the “Apps” section and open the Job Queue Monitor App

5) Activating the Teams bot chat

5.1) Sign in with the “login” command in the Teams bot chat. Next, you should be given the option to log in with your NAVToolbox account, so it connects with your snapshots in Object Analyzer.

5.2) Now the Teams bot chat is ready. We suggest starting by adding a snapshot card and adding listeners to these.

You should also be able to enter your own commands, or choose one of the pre-defined commands in the chatbox.
